Feisty Fawn versus Gutsy Gibbon

 Ubuntu

Seeing that Ubuntu 7.04, known as the Feisty Fawn, has been superseded by Ubuntu 7.10, known as the Gutsy Gibbon, I thought I might upgrade to the newer version and maybe solve some of my difficulties. There is an update option that does all the work for you and the night before last I set the process in motion before going to bed. The size of the download is over 600Mb which takes about four hours at the slow 40KB/second ADSL Internet connection that I have. Next morning however, I found that the download had gotten stuck half-way. I tried again the next night and next morning I found that the download had succeeded. Unfortunately, the installation failed and so I was back where I began. I think I’ll get an IT technician at school to download it after hours and I’ll burn it to a CD and do a fresh install. Ubuntu has become my personal project and I’m determined to succeed one way or another.
